Not Everyone Runs On The
Highway
Naked.....
But We All Run It.
A chronicle of reflections on life well-lived and the unexpected detours along the way.
.....Here Is How I Did It!

I'm Tom Wells.
I write from the intersection of what I consider introspective thought and lived experience. My favorite things are “giving back,” and preaching Dream, Plan, Do! I have been a successful lawyer, owned and run or helped run 10 businesses , and if I count everything since I was a kid, I had 40 different jobs. My best accomplishments are my great marriage, kids, and grandkids and founding a non-profit that has educated, supported and turned loose 1000 change-makers in developing nations.
Lawyer & Entrepreneur
Joy and success in advocacy and problem solving. Built a 12 lawyer law firm committed to clients and created ten businesses
Mentor
Provides advice on how to live a well-lived life. Makes lists on just how: 12 Principles, 38 Even More Principles, 9 ways to take us past today's destructive politics
Non-Profit Visionary
Free legal work and support to start a dozen foundations. Built and grew Wells Mountain Initiative to educate and support 1000 change-makers
Thoughtful Theologian
Contemplates and cogitates how we all can do better. I enjoy “walk the walk” Christianity based on Christ's model and the Golden Rule. Deeply skeptical of culture war divisions that build barriers.
Storyteller
Loves to entertain and preach in words and print to illustrate a point or story to challenge, inspire or just amuse.
Family Man
Father of three daughters, grandfather of five, creator of “Camp Carol,” family compound, host of Cider Weekend for 38 years and Maple Syrup Saturday every year for family and friends.
Naked on the Highway
A memoir of exposure, resilience, and the roads we didn't choose. Tom's debut book distills decades of experience as a lawyer, entrepreneur, and mentor into a story that is equal parts confession and compass.

What Readers Are Saying
“A fast-paced and engaging read, filled with memorable stories, thoughtful lessons, and plenty of humor. I felt as though I was sitting across from the author in a lounge chair, sharing his life over coffee or whiskey. A reminder of the richness of life when viewed through someone else's eyes.”
— Nicole B.“Join Tom as he invites you to walk with him through all aspects of his engaging life. Nothing is too sacred or too intimate. His frank, straightforward style makes it clear that he is more than ready to share his fascinating life. I highly recommend this book.”
— Joseph H. Schmidt“This is one of those books I'll be thinking about for a long time. Tom Wells writes with self-deprecating humor and deep honesty. The story about the waitress in Austin who covered his breakfast and the $100 tip – that's the kind of person he is. The 38 lessons at the end are worth the price of the book alone.”
— Ferndes Bs.“I bought this for my husband who never reads. He loved it so much he read passages aloud to me. Tom's story about stealing Carol from her boyfriend is legendary. His story about building YMCAs in Haiti made me want to volunteer. A reminder that one person can make a difference.”
